OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY
Our Occupational Therapists will work with you to identify every day activities that you would like to do, return to, or complete more easily and safely. An assessment is completed to understand your unique strengths including your abilities, environment, equipment, experience and supports (formal and informal). The Occupational Therapist then identifies the current challenges with achieving the task and will collaborate with you and any relevant supports or services to develop a plan to achieve your goals.
Part of the plan may involve a variety of tasks that will be completed by your Occupational Therapist called interventions. These include
-
Home modifications - making recommendations for changes to a building
-
Equipment Prescription /Assistive Technology (AT) - trialling and recommending equipment
-
Skill Building - Helping you to practice and learn skills sometimes with the use of resources your Occupational Therapist has created specifically for you
-
Supported Independent Living (SIL) / Individualised Living Options (ILO) / Functional Capacity Assessment (FCA) - Recommendations for supports needed to live safely and independently
-
Supported Disability Accommodation (SDA) - Recommendations for specific housing environments
-
Completing reports to funding bodies such as the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), Sate Wide Equipment Program (SWEP) or Home Care Package Manager (HCP).

The plan will be reviewed by the Occupational Therapist and yourself at regular intervals or at the conclusion of the goal, depending on the length of time it takes to complete. This ensures that both you and your Occupational Therapist have an opportunity to discuss how the plan is progressing, and if any changes are required to achieve your goals.
